Limited Term Retirement Plan for Elected Officials
LACERS operates a Limited Term Retirement Plan for elected
officials. This plan is a defined contribution plan designed
for elected officials who might not become eligible for the
LACERS defined benefit plan because they may not accrue five
or more years of continuous City service. An elected official
who later accrues five or more years of continuous City service
may opt to join the LACERS defined benefit plan. There are
advantages to both types of retirement plans and your decision
should be based on an understanding of these differences.
