72-hour
Work Schedule & Your Benefits
The Los Angeles Administrative Code Section 4.117* permits the continuation
of full-time benefits to employees who voluntarily reduce their number
of hours worked (and paid) from 80 to not less than 72.
If you, as an Active Member, elect the 72-hour reduced work schedule:
- You
will have the same retirement benefits as though you worked
80 hours.
- The
calculation of your retirement benefits will be the same as if
you worked 80 hours because your retirement deduction from your
biweekly salary is based on an 80-hour workweek.
- The
calculation of your average monthly compensation would also be
based on an 80-hour workweek if you were working a 72-hour schedule
prior to retirement.
*Note:
Please refer to the Administrative Code Sec. 4.117 entitled Reduced
Work Schedule.
