Time Limits on Enrollment

Your Health (medical and dental) Insurance DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY CONTINUE from Active to Retiree plans. Retiree health insurance plans are different from the Active employee health insurance plans.

You have 60 days from the date of retirement to enroll in a LACERS Health plan or you must wait until the annual October Open Enrollment period.

Any changes to your existing health plans may be made during LACERS annual Open Enrollment period in October of each year with coverage effective the following January. If you are currently in a LACERS plan and that option is still right for you - in both the plan choice and cost - no enrollment forms are required to be submitted during Open Enrollment Period.
