residents were evacuated and mail service was delayed. LACERS responded by developing strategies to aid our affected retirees and assist them in obtaining their retirement checks. This information was available to those who called or visited our website, www.LACERS.org. Our retirees with direct deposit were the least affected by the wildfires. Because direct deposit automatically deposits your check electronically in your bank account, it is faster and more secure than having a check mailed to you. LACERS recommends that all Members and beneficiaries receiving retirement allowances enroll in a direct deposit program as a disaster planning measure.
