Volunteer Opportunities
National Telemarketing Victim Call Center Seeking Volunteers
The National Telemarketing Victim Call Center (NTVCC) provides consumer fraud prevention programming to older consumers. The NTVCC needs volunteers to educate older consumers about mass marketing scams. Volunteers manage and operate a reverse boiler room, provide specific prevention messaging, give tips on avoiding scams, and gather information for law enforcement. Training is provided. Volunteers are given a fraud fighter kit, a call center information packet, paid parking, and a daily lunch. A monthly luncheon is held to allow volunteers to discuss specific cases and meet the law enforcement partners. You can view the NTVCC's information sheet entitled Are you concerned about consumer fraud? here.
For more information or for an enrollment form, please call Lauren Velazquez at (310) 473-4630.

Become an Advocate for an Abused Child in Foster Care
Become an Advocate for an Abused Child in Foster Care
Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) of Los Angeles is currently recruiting volunteers. Trained volunteers investigate the circumstances of children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect and placed in protective custody. CASA volunteers advocate for the best interest of foster children both in court and in the community. Volunteers must be at least 21 years old, be able to make a one-year commitment to the program, undergo a background check, and successfully complete a 36-hour CASA training. An average of 5 hours per week is spent on case activities. Bilingual (Spanish/English) and African American volunteers are especially needed. Volunteers must attend an Orientation session before taking the training. For additional information and to RSVP to one of our Orientations, please call: (323) 526-6666 or visit www.casala.org.
