To help ensure the City realizes needed salary savings from the ERIP, LACERS committed to retiring 350 members per month until the target of 2,400 retirements was achieved.

We are proud to announce that, through the diligent efforts of our staff, 363 members retired on January 2nd!

We have certified the eligibility and benefit group numbers of approximately 2,500 ERIP applicants.

The next ERIP retirement date will be February 13. We are expecting to process at least another 350 ERIP retirements on that date.

Two of the most frequently asked questions from our members regarding ERIP are: 

When will I be notified if I am approved to participate in the ERIP?
Almost all applicants who will be eligible to retire under the ERIP will be notified of their eligibility to participate in the ERIP around the end of January.

If I am approved, how is my retirement date determined?
Pursuant to the ERIP ordinance, City management has the right to determine your retirement date. The goal of the ERIP is to separate 2,400 employees from City service as quickly as possible. We anticipate that most ERIP-eligible employees will be notified of their retirement dates around the end of February. There is no way to accommodate requests for specific retirement dates.
