LACERS Virtual Events Code of Conduct

Overview

LACERS commits to providing informative and welcoming seminars for all its participants, free from comments and behaviors that are offensive, disruptive, and discriminatory.

By participating in a LACERS’ meeting or event, you are agreeing to the following Code of Conduct:

  • No Recording – Recording (visual and/or audio) or distributing LACERS’ footage is prohibited without explicit written consent from LACERS.
  • Maintain Professionalism & Respect – All attendees and participants are expected to be punctual and respectful while attending LACERS’ meetings or events.
  • Privacy is Key – Do not disclose any personally identifiable information via the chat or Q&A features through virtual meetings during a public webinar session.
  • No Discrimination/Harassment/Intimidation/Cyberstalking - Discrimination,  harassment, intimidation, and cyberstalking, in any form, is unacceptable behavior and is prohibited. 

Examples of unacceptable behavior include but are not limited to the following:

  • Comments related to gender, gender identity or expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, national origin, political affiliation;
  •  Sexual harassment is a specific type of prohibited conduct. Sexual harassment is any unwelcome conduct of a verbal or non-verbal sexual nature that might reasonably be expected or be perceived to cause offense or humiliation. Sexual harassment may involve any conduct of a verbal or non-verbal nature, including written and electronic communications, and may occur between persons of the same or different genders;
  • Verbal or non-verbal abuse, or the threat of physical violence towards any panelist, guest speaker, staff, or attendee is prohibited; and
  • Inappropriate public comments made verbally, via the chat and/or the Q&A feature through virtual meetings (Zoom, MS Teams, or other applications) about panelist(s) personal appearance, presentation delivery, or perceived knowledge base are strictly prohibited.
  • Substance Free - Use of intoxicating substances, including alcohol or drugs, while participating in any LACERS meeting or event is prohibited.

CONSEQUENCES - If LACERS  determines that a person has violated any part of this Code of Conduct, LACERS authorized representatives, at their sole discretion may take any of the following actions:

  •  Verbal or written warning;
  •  Expulsion from the LACERS’ event;
  •  Suspension of attendance at LACERS’ events – both virtual and in-person;
  • Prohibited attendance at any future LACERS’ event – both virtual and in-person; and
  • Reporting unacceptable conduct to local law enforcement if a threat is perceived.

If you have comments or concerns that you would like to relay, please complete the after-event survey to share your concerns or feedback that will be sent to all participants within three days of the conclusion of the meeting or event.
