Updated FAQs and Upcoming Deadline

Article

Updates to FAQs located at lacers.org/ff.

LACERS and LAFPP recently updated the FAQs for the Measure FF Transfer Program. Here are two important questions that came up in the Q and A sessions:

  • How will LAFPP calculate Final Average Salary for transferees?
    • LAFPP will follow the Plan terms and allow a member to designate 24 consecutive months of salary or by default will use the last 24 months of consecutive salary to calculate the Final Average Salary. As discussed in the summary plan descriptions and Measure FF counseling slides, this is different than LACERS, which uses 12 consecutive months to determine Final Average Monthly Compensation for Tier 1 Members and 36 consecutive months for Tier 3 Members.  The FAQs contains links to the retirement formulas so you may calculate your projected retirement pension under both plans.

  • What happens if a Member elected not to participate in the Retirement Incentive Program (RIP)?
    • Non-pensionable bonuses are not included when calculating a Member’s Final Average Salary. Please reference your MOU to determine what bonuses were pensionable and confirm your Final Average Salary.  The FAQs contains links to the MOUs, and more information on RIP.

Please reference the FAQs located at lacers.org/ff, which is updated regularly, for more information and resources on this and other topics that are relevant to the Measure FF Transfer Program.
