LACERS 2025 1099-R FORMS HAVE BEEN MAILED
LACERS has completed its mailing of 1099-R tax forms to retirees and beneficiaries for the 2025 tax year. The 1099-Rs are only sent to the address on file with LACERS. If you have recently moved or changed your address, please complete and submit a Change of Address form. If you have not received your 1099-R, the earliest you may request a duplicate to be mailed to you is the second week of February. You may also view your 1099-R via your MyLACERS account beginning in February.

LACERS’ Open Enrollment period ended November 17, and applications for health plan changes for the 2026 plan year are no longer being accepted.

OPEN ENROLLMENT HAS ENDED
November 17 was the final day to make changes to your LACERS health and dental plans during the Open Enrollment period. Any changes submitted by that date will take effect on January 1, 2026.
Unless you experience a qualifying life event, your next opportunity to make changes to your LACERS health or dental coverage will be during the 2027 Open Enrollment period.

Medicare Part B Premium for 2026
As a reminder, all Retired Members and their dependents who are eligible for Medicare and enrolled in a LACERS plan are required to enroll in Medicare Part B. Retired Members enrolled in Medicare Parts A & B with at least 10 years of Service who are enrolled in a LACERS Senior medical plan or participate in the Medical Premium Reimbursement Program (MPRP) are eligible for a reimbursement of their standard (basic) Medicare Part B premium.

As part of our ongoing efforts to engage with the emerging manager community, LAFPP and LACERS will co-host the Emerging Manager Networking Forum on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at LAFPP’s headquarters in downtown Los Angeles.
A limited number of one-on-one meetings with LAFPP and LACERS staff will be available to qualified Emerging Manager firms.

For All LACERS Peace Officer Members Who Are Eligible for the LAFPP Transfer Opportunity
On Friday, October 31, 2025, the City Council of Los Angeles adopted Measure FF, which allows for the voluntary transfer of certain sworn public safety officers from LACERS to LAFPP Tier 6.
To ensure that all LACERS Peace Officer Members who are eligible for the transfer opportunity have access to the necessary information to make an informed decision that benefits them and their families, LACERS has been collaborating with LAFPP on a series of virtual Measure FF Transfer Opportunity Counseling Sessions. These sessions will begin on November 10 and end on January 5.

JULY PAYCHECKS REFLECT THE 2025 COST OF LIVING ADJUSTMENT
The LACERS Board of Administration has approved the maximum allowable Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) for eligible LACERS retired members and beneficiaries. The approved adjustments are 3.0% for Tier 1 and Tier 1 Enhanced Members, and 2.0% for Tier 3 Members. Allowable increases will be included in the July retirement allowance payment. ANNUAL NOTICE OF RIGHT TO ELECT OR REVOKE FEDERAL INCOME TAX WITHHOLDING
LACERS is required to inform you that your periodic benefit payments from LACERS may be subject to Federal Income Tax withholding unless you elect not to withhold. If your benefit becomes effective in 2025, and a completed Form W-4P is not on file with LACERS, your withholding will be calculated as if your filing status is Single with no adjustments. For benefits that began before 2025, your current withholding remains in effect unless you submit a new Form W-4P.

Marked ballots must be received by the City Clerk-Election
Division Office by the 5:00 p.m. deadline on Friday, April 11,
2025. Ballots may also be personally deposited in the
election box at the City Clerk-Election Division Office during
office hours, Monday through Friday, no later than 5:00 p.m. on
April 11, 2025.

LACERS 2024 1099-R FORMS HAVE BEEN MAILED
LACERS has completed its mailing of 1099-R tax forms to retirees and beneficiaries for the 2024 tax year. The 1099-Rs are only sent to the address on file with LACERS. If you have recently moved or changed your address, please complete and submit a Change of Address form. If you have not received your 1099-R, the earliest that you may request a duplicate be mailed to you is the second week of February.

‘ALIVE AND WELL’ AUDIT MAILINGS HAVE BEGUN
For Members aged 80+, watch for an upcoming LACERS mailing containing a form to be completed and returned. LACERS periodically conducts ‘Alive and Well’ audits to ensure that Member contact information is correct and that monthly benefit payments are being paid to the intended named recipient on file. Please note that a response is required, and your timely submission is appreciated.

Preliminary Notification of Election
Self Nomination Package Mailed Out to Eligible Voters on January 15, 2025
Are you a Retired LACERS Member? Would you like to run for a seat
on the LACERS Board of Administration? If you answered “Yes”
to both questions, you must take the first step and file a Notice
of Intent form.
Beginning Tuesday, January 21, 2025, the Notice of Intent
form must be submitted in-person at the City Clerk-Election
Division – 555 Ramirez Street, Space 300, Los Angeles, CA 90012.
