Karen Freire

Ms. Karen Freire is the Chief Benefits Analyst who oversees the Health Benefits and Wellness Division which administers LACERS health plans, retiree benefits, and the Medicare compliance program. Prior to her current position, she managed the Retirement Services Division.

Ms. Freire joined the City of Los Angeles in 2001 and worked for the Departments of General Services, Building and Safety, and Recreation and Parks before she arrived at LACERS in 2008. She held positions in areas related to the administration of contracts, budget, and procurement.

Ms. Freire has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Marketing Management from the California State University, Los Angeles and an Associate of Arts degree in Merchandise Marketing from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles.
