The State of California has partnered with AARP, the Alzheimer’s Association, American Lung Association and others to establish a hotline for seniors to get questions answered and help find support service. 

The seniors’ hotline number is (833) 544-2374.

Additionally, the 2-1-1 essential community service hotline is also available to help connect people to needed services.

Resources for Seniors (65+) and Adults with Disabilities

With people, especially seniors, being ordered to stay at home to avoid exposure to the corona virus, you or someone you know may find it difficult to meet their daily needs, such as preparing meals, picking up prescription medication, and/or getting to medical appointments.  The City of Los Angeles, and other agencies across the country, have various programs to assist you.

Within the City of Los Angeles

Cityride – Dial-A-Ride and Taxicab Program (Los Angeles Department of Transportation) – providing transportation to necessary medical appointments and to pick up medication.

This service is only available to city of Los Angeles residents and portions of the unincorporated areas. For more information, call 808-7422 from any area code, or visit

Within the City and County of Los Angeles

Los Angeles Department of Aging - providing service to Los Angeles residents and referrals to programs outside of Los Angeles​

  • Free Home-Delivered Meals during the declared emergency (available within Los Angeles city and county) – Although meals are provided at no cost, donations are accepted to help sustain the program.
  • Transportation Services – through Proposition A, transportation is provided for non-emergency rides to routine medical appointments, such as dialysis treatments.

Outside Los Angeles County, but within California

Test by Doctor Referral, FAQs, Vaccine Updates

If you’re concerned that you or a loved one have symptoms of COVID-19, start an e‑visit for an online screening.  Currently, in-person tests are only available by doctor referral when medically necessary.  For more updates on testing, visit kp.org/coronavirus

Getting Care

While some medical offices are temporarily closed or have limited in-person services, you can still get the care you need through in-person emergency care, e-visits, phone or video visits, and more.  Emergency departments remain open for those with serious conditions who need immediate medical attention.  For primary care, specialty care, and mental health services, start by connecting with your care team from the safety and comfort of your home by visiting kp.org/getcare

COVID-19 Mental Health Resources Hub

Anthem’s affiliated health plans and Beacon Health Options have joined with Psych Hub, mental health advocates and other national health insurers to develop a free digital resource site to help individuals and care providers address behavioral health needs resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.

This COVID-19 Mental Health Resource Hub provides a range of resources designed to help people, their families and care providers cope with pandemic-related stress brought on by social isolation, job loss and other challenges.

The Resource Hub is a collaboration among several national leaders in the mental health community. Anthem and Beacon will share their COVID-19 related content with Psych Hub, and web sites for Anthem’s affiliated health plans and Beacon will house educational videos produced by Psych Hub, as well as behavioral health-focused resources authored by Anthem and Beacon mental health experts.

Anthem Partners with Aunt Bertha

Anthem has partnered with a leading social care network Aunt Bertha.  This network connects members and families to social services within their communities for free and reduced –cost services. 

We know many members may need help with looking for resources to help with food, housing, job training, transportation and more.  This site makes it easier for our members to find the important social services needed during this time.

These include COVID-19 specific assistance, such as food delivery and help paying bills and much more.  Anthem members can access over 350,000 programs by clicking the Aunt Bertha link and putting in their zip code.

Additional Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Resources

To provide additional help for members who seek to address and navigate mental and behavioral health issues, Anthem’s affiliated health plans are providing no-cost access to EAP informational resources for 90 days to those who do not already have access.

Anthem members can access anthemEAP.com for helpful COVID-19 resources, as well as articles and tip sheets on daily needs, child and eldercare resources and legal and financial information.

Many grocery stores and pharmacies are hosting Senior Shopping Hours, which sometimes also includes immune compromised or otherwise at risk individuals.  Below you can find some resources for information about where these special hours are being provided.

Services for Home Delivery of Groceries and other Necessities

L.A. County Critical Delivery Service for Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities

Los Angeles County Department of Workforce Development, Aging and Community Services (WDACS), with the support of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, announced a free delivery program for older adults and individuals with disabilities. This countywide program, called Critical Delivery Service, will deliver groceries, household items, and other vital necessities to individuals who are unable to leave their homes due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Items may be delivered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, at no cost to the client. No application process is required; however, items must be pre-paid and ready for pickup. Deliveries may be scheduled by calling 1-888-863-7411 between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Clients may utilize this service up to four times or 40 miles per month, whichever comes first.
