Emerging Manager Symposium
Spring 2024
LACERS Emerging Manager Symposium (EMS), which was first launched
in 2021 with the strong support of the LACERS Board of
Administration, is designed for emerging investment managers
interested in learning about LACERS Emerging Manager Program
through discussion and remarks provided by LACERS officials and
their advisers. The goal of the EMS is to help interested
investment managers better understand LACERS investment program
including its manager search and selection process. The EMS is
one of the key starting points of relationship-building with
staff that may lead to possibly earning an allocation of LACERS
capital to manage.
LACERS presents its Spring 2024 Emerging Manager Symposium (EMS).
This year’s symposium, which is its fourth consecutive EMS, is a
pre-recorded event released on April 3, 2024. The theme of
the 2024 EMS is Graduation, which focuses on investment managers
that continue to be retained by LACERS and who become eligible
for additional management of LACERS capital. Two separate
fireside chats are hosted by senior-level LACERS staff Ellen
Chen, Director of Private Markets, and Wilkin Ly, Deputy Chief
Investment Officer, who showcase LACERS public markets
investment manager, Oberweis Asset Management, Inc. (Oberweis),
and LACERS private equity investment manager, Oak HC/FT
Associates, L.P. (Oak HC/FT), respectively. Through their
interview-style dialogue with these investment managers, we hope
that you gain insight as to how investment firms can grow with
LACERS and ultimately graduate from LACERS’ Emerging Manager
Program.
